CUYAHOGA FALLS - Richard E. Strecker, Sr., was born on February 20, 1926 and passed away on December 30, 2009 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was preceded in death by his wonderful and beloved wife Marilyn, after 55 years of marriage, parents Frank and Clara, sister Maryann, brother Frank. He is survived by brother Robert Strecker Sr. Left to grieve his passing are his children whom he loved unconditionally, Mary Ann Walsh of Akron, Kathleen (Thomas Hemperly) of Jackson Township, Carol and Richard Strecker of Cuyahoga Falls, James (Tanya) Strecker of Colorado. Dad will always be in our hearts. Grandchildren Steven (Joy) Vale of Jackson Township, Susan (Chris) Stryker and Tylyn Strecker of Colorado. Great Grandchildren Ashleigh and Sam Vale of Jackson Township.
Dick served in the U.S. Army and Airforce during World War II. He was a 1944 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School, Kent State University and the University of Akron School of Law. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1952 and was a member of the Ohio Bar for over 50 years. He was past member and president of the Cuy. Falls Jaycees, Summit County and Ohio Land Title Assoc. and chairman of the Ohio Title Insurance Underwriters Assoc. and the City of Cuy. Falls Planning Commission. Dick was a past member of the Akron and Cuy. Falls Kiwanis Clubs, Akron City Club and University Club and a current member of Silver Lake Country Club. He was a founding member of both Immaculate Heart of Mary and St. Eugene's Church where he served on the building and fundraising committees, and was an usher at St. Eugene's Church.
The family thanks and appreciates all of the support he received and the many acts of kindness and help. Falls General Hospital for their care, and Dr. Daniel Steidl and Dr. Andrew Haas.
Friends may call at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls from 1 to 4 pm Sunday. Mass of the Resurrection will be at St. Eugene's Church Monday, January 4 at 10:00 am and burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Father Neil Crosby. A luncheon will be served at St. Eugene's immediately after the committal service. Memorials may be made to St. Eugene's Building Fund, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls 44221.
