SILVER LAKE- Robert J. Becker, 69, died Sept. 28, 2013. Mr. Becker was born in Akron and had resided in Silver Lake for 32 years, moving here from New Orleans. He was raised in Cuyahoga Falls and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1962. He was an Asst. U.S. Attorney and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls where he sang with the Chancel Choir and served on various committees. He sang with the Silver Lake Singers and served on various search committees. He loved music, playing the guitar for his grandchildren and introducing them to music.
Preceded in death by his father, Edward, he is survived by his wife, Carolyn, to whom he would have been married 42 years in November; sons, Stephen Edward (Heather) Becker of Strongsville and Joseph Wesley Becker of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren, Aiden-Thomas and Aubreelyn Becker; mother, Annabelle Becker of Cuyahoga Falls; brothers, Carl Becker of S. Carolina and David Becker of Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday October 4 in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sat. October 5 in The 1st United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Tr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221, Dr. David A. Baker officiating. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to The First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls or Haven of Rest, P. O. Box 547 Akron, OH 44309-0547.
