CUYAHOGA FALLS - Robert C. Brauning, Sr. 90, died at home July 31st. Pre-deceasing him by just 3 months was his wife of 64 years, Suegene. They leave sons Bob Jr. (Pat) of Cuyahoga Falls, Bill (Renaye) of Akron and Michael (Chris) of Dover, OH.
Bob, Sr. was the son of John F. Brauning II and Elizabeth Haessler Brauning of Zanesville, OH. Pre-deceasing him was brother John F. III of Lakeside, CA, while surviving brother and sister are Dorothy (Dr. William) Hill of Bradenton, FL and Dr. Donald R. (Suzanne) Brauning of Zanesville.
After growing up in Zanesville, Bob enjoyed college life as a Kappa Sig at Denison University and upon graduation began an engineering career that spanned 40 years. He retired in 1982 from Goodyear Aerospace, Wheel & Brake Division. He was a US Navy veteran serving briefly at the end of World War II.
A Silver Lake resident for 34 years, he enjoyed numerous village activities, in particular, the Monday men's volleyball at the school and fishing and sailing at the lake. He was a 57-year member of The First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Stow Glen's Home Health Care for the wonderful attention and care extended to Bob.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 16 from 5-7pm at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. Final resting place will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Cuyahoga Falls with private interment at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's name to the Gift and Memorial Fund at First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls, or a favorite charity.
