Robert Gordon Clough, born October 3, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Jack and Peggy Clough, died August 11, 2006. He was married to Joan Baker for 57 years. Bob and his family moved to Akron in 1962. His 40 year career with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company began at the Clark Street Store in Chicago, Illinois and culminated as Sales Manager, Private Brands in Akron, Ohio. Bob was a member of the Church of Silver Lake, Akron Post-Polio Group, Firestone Gum Dippers, "9 to 12" group of Firestone Retirees, F.O.M.O.C.O. Classic Car Club (10 years), former member of Silver Lake Country Club, Firestone Country Club, and Akron Gyros. Bob was currently a volunteer driver for the American Red Cross (10 years) and in the last few years had volunteered as a dispatcher for the agency as well. Bob also volunteered for the Church in Silver Lake's "Lunch on Us" program. Bob was an avid golfer and a great fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Joan, daughters, Nancy (Jim) Homa and Patty (Pat) Ritchie, three grandchildren, Brian (Erin Williams) and Eric Homa, Porter Ritchie and great-grandson Riley Homa. He is also survived by brothers Frank (Rose) Clough of Tequesta, FL., William (Mitzi) Clough, Lumberton MS, and sister Carolyn (Jim) Murray, Aptos, CA. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 1:30 PM at The Church in Silver Lake, 2951 Kent Rd., Rev. Dianne Shirey officiating. Family will greet friends immediately following. In lieu of other remembrances, donations may be made to the American Red Cross (Transportation Division), 501 W.
