CUYAHOGA FALLS - Robert D. Kenney, Sr., 84, passed away November 1, 2013.
Mr. Kenney was born in Akron, Ohio and graduated from East High School, served in the US Army during the Korean War and returned to work at the Ford Motor Company in Bedford until his retirement in 1991. He was an avid sportsman and played fast pitch softball and was inducted into the Akron and Ohio Softball Halls of Fame. He was active Member of the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium and the Emmanuel United Church of Christ.
Preceded in death by his sons Robert, Jr. and William; brothers, Bud and Charlie, he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris; daughters, Gloria (John) Bragg of Columbus, Joyce Haines of Cuyahoga Falls and Jan (Tom) Kingsley of Kent; Daughter-in-law, Barb Mahoney-Kenney; grandchildren, Michelle (Tom) DeFrank, Shannon (Thomas) Dubach, Robyn (David Johnson) Bragg, Colin and Hannah Kenney, Adam, Erik and Katie Kingsley; great-grandchildren, Ariel, Cheyanne, Aurora, Griffin, Henry; special nieces and nephews, Butch (Kathy) Kenney, Kathy Kearns and Jackie McCaman and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Monday November 4, in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, Rev. Steven Lashbrook officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Military Honors by American Legion Charles Faust Post 281. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 1480 Eastwood Ave, Akron, OH 44305. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 330-928-2147.
