CUYAHOGA FALLS -Robert J. McIntire, 74, passed into a new life April 2, 2009 surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. Born November 29, 1934 to Carl and Virgie (nee Cook)
McIntire of Marion County W.V. he was a 50 year resident of Cuyahoga Falls and a 20 year member of the National Guard. He worked as an equipment operator for the Cuyahoga Falls Electric Department and retired after 35 years. He was a member of VFW Ralph Huff Post 1062 and American Legion Charles Faust Post 281. A devoted family man, he was involved in activities with his children and grandchildren. He was also an avid outdoorsman who often returned to W. V. to hunt and fish with his brothers. Upon retirement, he joined a seniors' ceramic group and continued to practice woodworking at the Quirk Cultural Center.
He was preceded in death by brother, Don McIntire and sister Nancy Miller. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rebecca, brothers Tom (Debora) McIntire, and Sonny Carl (Janie) McIntire, children Kathy McIntire, Mitzi (Charles) Stanley, Craig (Kim) McIntire, Sally (Neil) Krosner and Amanda McIntire, and 8 beloved grandchildren as well as many family and friends. The family would like to thank Cuyahoga Falls General's ICU staff for their wonderful care and support.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, Rev. Kirk Bruce officiating. Friends may call beginning at 1:00 pm Monday.
