Robert McLaughlin

STOW- Robert N. McLauglin, 59, died unexpectedly March 2, 2007. Mr. McLaughlin was born in Akron and had resided in Stow the past year. He was a graduate of Coventry High School and the University of Akron, with a degree in criminal justice. Bob had been Director of Summit County Juvenile Court, Deputy Auditor of Summit County and most recently was employed by Oriana House.

Bob was very active in the community and dedicated his life to youth service. He was a volunteer youth basketball coach in Stow in the 1980s, Youth Director and Camp Counselor at the Akron YMCA, and served on the Camp Y-Noah Advisory Board. For the past forty years, Bob volunteered with the All-American Soap Box Derby, most recently serving as Chairman of the Derby.

He is survived by the love of his life, Donna Shisler McLaughlin; son, John (Yenny); daughter, Kara (Pravin) Bhakuni, step-children, Christina and Rebecca Shisler; grandchildren, Alexandra and Elise McLaughlin; dear aunt and uncle, Jimmy and Jo Gellner; mother, Doris McLaughlin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruth and Robert Baeslack; brothers and sister, Bill (Debbie) McLaughlin, Kurt (Joni) McLaughlin, Jeff (Lynn) McLaughlin, Susie McLaughlin and Eric McLaughlin and nieces and nephews and many cousins. He also leaves many loving friends who hold dear, cherished memories of his humor and loyalty. Bob's lifelong philosophy, which he practiced each day, was to "be a positive influence on the lives of others".

The Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 pm Tuesday in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday in Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 130 Broad Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls, Rev. Kirk Bruce officiating. Cremation will follow.
