Rodney Armstrong, Sr
CUYAHOGA FALLS - Rodney G. Armstrong, Sr. passed away peacefully January 23, 2016 with his family at his side. He celebrated his 90th birthday in grand style on December 29.
Rodney was born in West Virginia and spent most of his young life on a farm in Fayetteville. He was a proud veteran of WWII, serving in the Army.
He eloped to Virginia in 1950 with the love of his life, Margaret Delois Albaugh. Quickly realizing that he wasn't cut out for farming or coal mining, he made his way north to Ohio, working at Ford Motor Co. in Walton Hills for 32 years and residing in Cuyahoga Falls for 55 years.
Rodney was a storyteller, and never forgot a joke. He loved spending time on the golf course, still hitting the links at 87 years young (and beating most of his opponents). He made many lifelong friends at the 19th hole.
Rodney was preceded in death by beloved wife, "Delois", and infant daughter, Rhonda; brothers, Ray (Barbara), Robert (Merle), and James; and brother-in-law, Mike Gavin. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Rodney, Jr. and Kathleen of Stow; #1 grandson, Rodney III and fiancAC.e Rebecca Widowski; grandson, Joshua ("that boy's a cat's ass") and fiancAC.e, Emily Szunyogh. He will also be held in special memory by daughter, Elizabeth and son-in-law, Robert Peterson of LeHigh Acres, FL; grandchildren, Robert, Jr. and Patricia Peterson; great-granddaughter, Peighton; "baby sister," Ruth Ann Gavin; sister-in-law Helen Armstrong; and many treasured friends and canines.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27 from 5-8 pm at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Visitation will also be held 1 hour prior to a 12 PM Funeral Service on Saturday January 30, 2016 at the Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home 350 W. Maple St. Fayetteville, WV, 25840. Interment Hughes Memorial Park. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147
