"Together Again"
Rosemary Wachovec, 90, passed with peace and grace on September 15, surrounded by her loving family at the Justin T Rogers Hospice Care Center in Akron, OH. She will be reunited with her loving husband Frank Wachovec and her children Frank Wachovec Jr., Ellen Staggs and Paul Wachovec, who all preceded Rosemary in death.
Rosemary has roots all over Ohio, beginning with Cleveland, where she was born to Vonley and Stella Burnison and attended St. Joseph Academy. Following the love of her life, Frank Wachovec, she lived in Garrettsville, Brady Lake, Canton and Zanesville. Rosemary and Frank retired to McArthur where they spent time volunteering and hosting their growing family. Rosemary spent many memorable years in Chillicothe where a majority of her children live. Most recently, she resided at Stow Glen Retirement Village and frequented her ‘vacation home’ in Cuyahoga Falls most weekends.
Born to nurture, Rosemary finished nursing school and worked as a nurse while raising her family. She cared for and opened her home, heart and her arms to all. Rosemary was known for her genuine, kind and positive regard toward everyone she encountered and she spent many years of her life working toward causes close to her heart including AIDS awareness and cure, Vinton County Community Center and Meals On Wheels. Rosemary was also an avid garage sale and had impeccable comedic timing.
Rosemary will be missed by her children, Mike Wachovec, John (Rebecca) Wachovec, Barbara (Barry) Reid, Mary (Tom) Romans, Chris (Kim) Wachovec, Theresa (Ben) Hash, Jane (Mark) Moss, Steve (Kit) Wachovec, Tim (Gina) Wachovec, Peggy (Jack) Kinder as well as, her schoolmate and lifelong friend Eva Liggett. She will definitely be missed by daughter-in-law, Connie Wachovec. For her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, numbering well beyond 50, Grandma Rosie, will always be that warm hug and reassuring voice.
In accordance with mom’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A celebration of Rosemary’s life will be held at a later date, to be announced shortly. Her large and continually growing family will strive to honor Rosemary by living as she did, with kindness, humor and love. She leaves us rich in memories.
Rosemary’s family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers and friends at Stow Glen Retirement Village, the caring folks at Akron General Hospital and the amazing nurses and staff at the Justin T Rogers Hospice Care Center for their love and service given to mom. Memorial contributions may be made to Justin T Rogers Hospice Care Center, Stow Glen Retirement Village or the charity of your choice. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
