Ruth E. Myers was reunited with our Heavenly Father on Easter Sunday, April 8th, 2007.
She passed peacefully from this existence into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with her loving daughter and son at her side.
Ruth was born in Cleveland Heights, OH on February 8th, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Howard E. and Grace K. Herron. She graduated from Collinwood High School, and attended Baldwin Wallace as a voice major. Ruth was graced by God with a lovely singing voice, and music was so much a part of her life. Be it accompanying Tony Bennett or Josh Groban in a private duet at home, to performing as a long-time member of the St. Cecilia women's musical society here in Akron, the hills were always alive with the sound of music each and every day of her blessed life.
Ruth Myers had a passion and a keen eye for fashion. She loved the world of style and color, and one of her ambitions later in life was to be the proprietor of her own ladies apparel business. While that dream was never quite realized, Ruth in her own special way served as somewhat of a freelance fashion consultant to family and friends. Just ask her dear soul mates at Ino's Fashion in Fairlawn! One of the many joys and pleasures that she realized in a rich and fruitful life. She also loved to garden, and among many other things was an avid Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavs and Ohio State Buckeye fan. Ruth's grandchildren, Jordan and Ashley were the apple of her eye.
Most importantly, Ruth Myers embodied the spirit of faith, compassion and charity. Her unwavering faith in God was always strengthened through her affiliation and devotion to Christian Science. She served for many years, in many different roles and capacities as a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist of Cuyahoga Falls. Her lifelong devotion to our always-present, everlasting God, through the teachings of his beloved son Jesus Christ, helped her to humbly realize so many blessings and revelations in her life. Ruth contributed to many charitable organizations, The Haven of Rest Ministries here in Akron being one of her favorites. She was always mindful of those in need, from family and friends to those who were not known to her. A kind, loving and generous soul.
Ruth was preceded in death by her former husband Fredrick S. Myers and is survived by her ever-grateful and loving daughter Mindy Davis (Keith) and son Tim Myers. Also surviving are beloved cousin John Kempthorne and his daughter Pamela both from Phoenix, Arizona; John's son and daughter-in-law Phil and Dawn, of Houston, Texas. And of course, loved and cherished grandchildren Jordan and Ashley Davis, along with a host of dear life-long friends and acquaintances.
We love you so very, very much Mom and Grandma. You are now at peace and filled with joy in God's Kingdom of Heaven. Someday, we will all be together as one.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls where a funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Reader Lori Kleski officiating. Final resting place will be Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Ruth Myers may be made to Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 E.
