Sarah Sokira

Born on July 3, 1935, in Colver, Pennsylvania, to Evelyn and James Litzinger, Sarah Ann Sokira, who lived in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio for decades, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, in East Canton, Ohio to be reunited with her beloved husband forever, Andrew David Sokira.

Sarah was the eldest of nine children and embraced responsibility early in life, working tirelessly to support her family and care for her younger siblings. Her dedication to family was the foundation of her life’s purpose.

On July 2, 1955, she married the love of her life, Andrew David Sokira, and together they built a legacy of love and devotion. Sarah was the proud mother of four children: Andrew David Sokira (Cheryl), Donald James Sokira (Pam), Karen Marie Cady (Jeffrey), and Kathleen Marie Kovach (James). She was also a cherished grandmother to ten grandchildren—Rachel, Michael, Jessica, Jonathon, Jacob, Zachary, Melanie, Chelsea, Annabella, and Allison—and a beloved great-grandmother to five, with three more blessings on the way.

Sarah’s life was defined by her unwavering love and care for those around her. After spending her youth nurturing her siblings, she carried that same compassion into her marriage and family life. She dedicated her life to raising and supporting her family, always ensuring each person felt uniquely valued and cherished. Sarah was the most caring, loving, and concerned woman to all who knew her, and her love knew no bounds.

Her legacy of selflessness and unwavering devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of those she touched. 

Calling hours will be held Saturday, December 14 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am followed by the service at Clifford-Shoemaker funeral home.
