Scott Knepp

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Scott Page Knepp was born May 5, 1951 and died at home November 3, 2004. He was both a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School (1970) and the University of Akron. Scott was a deputy sheriff with Summit County.
Scott was preceded in death by his brother, Todd B. Knepp and father-in-law, Judge Edward J. Mahoney. He is survived by wife, Kathy Mahoney Knepp; parents, William A. and Ann Knepp; mother-in-law, Shirley Mahoney; brothers, Tom, Dave (Carol), Cody, Brad (Larene) and Bill; sisters-in-law, Barb Mahoney-Kenney, all of the area; Meg (Dave) Doucette of Natick, MA; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A special thanks to Todd Knepp, Colin Kenney, Hannah Kenney and Allison Kura Armstrong for their devoted care of Uncle Scott over the years. He was an amazing uncle and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for one of the kids.
Scott was an avid sportsman but nothing came close to his love of golf! Scott's brothers loved playing on his softball and basketball teams. His fiery competitiveness brought out the best in all of them.
Scott also loved spending vacations at Jekyll Island with his wife and family. In spite of the challenges and physical limitations, Scott insisted on rafting the Colorado River in his wheelchair, parasailing in the Bahamas with his wife and taking a helicopter ride through the Grand Canyon. Those around Scott knew that he felt blessed to have married Kathy, the true love of his life.
Scott touched the lives of many people through his illness. He lived his life with courage and never complained about the disease that was so relentless.
The family wishes to express special thanks to home health aides, Sherry Tigelman, Amanda McKinnie and the entire staff at Professional Nursing Service (Vishnia & Associates). Gratitude is also extended to the compassionate Hospice of Summa team.
We are also most appreciative of the care given by Dr. Nancy Foldvary-Schaefer and the nurses, doctors and staff of the neurosciences departments (and other specialists) at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation who treated Scott and the family with devotion and dignity these past eight years.
Friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 pm Friday at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:00 am Saturday in The First United Methodist Church 245 Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls, Rev. Marvin Brown, Dr. Forrest J. Waller and Rev. Paul Beal officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be sent to the Cuyahoga Falls Alumni Foundation designated for the Scott Knepp Memorial Scholarship to benefit students with medical challenges at 341 Stow Rd., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
