Shirley Cleary

Shirley R. Cleary, 89, went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2017. She was a life-long Akron resident, graduating from South High School. Shirley worked at Ohio Bell Telephone retiring after 28 years of service. She was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, many garden clubs and was former president of the Cuyahoga Falls Garden Forum. Shirley enjoyed golfing cooking and spending time with friends and family.

Preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. of 68 years; son, Kevin Lee; and sister, Pauline Rutledge; she is survived by her son, Ronson Earl (Marie) of Florida; and sister, Bonni Brunner of Florida; grandchildren, Brian (Laura) Cleary and Laura (Jason) Cotter; step-granddaughter, Meghan Romito; adopted granddaughter, Maryellen (Jamie) Stuber; and 6 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m on Saturday July 29th at Bethany United Church of Christ 1235 Broad Blvd. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223. Inurnment was held in April at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to Bethany United Church of Christ. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 330-928-2147.
