CUYAHOGA FALLS - Thomas E. Hayden, 78, passed away peacefully in his home near Old Washington, OH on March 10, 2017 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Tom was born and raised in Cuyahoga Falls, OH by parents, Clarence and Louise Hayden, along with his two sisters, Mary Jo and Margaret Ann. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1956. Tom married Carole Ferder and had 3 children: Jeff, Jenny and John Hayden. He worked at Schrader Bellows in the Falls before moving to California where he worked in various aerospace industry companies. While in California he met and married Peggy Curran.
In his free time, Tom began teaching clog dancing. He became an avid clog dancer, teacher and choreographer. In 1992, Tom and Peggy moved back to Ohio and shortly after built what is known as the "Red Barn". Here they hosted numerous square dances, clogging classes, camp outs, family reunions and Halloween parties with the famous "Spook Walk" in the woods. Tom touched the lives of so many and created memories at "The Farm" for his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Louise Hayden, his sister Margaret Ann Wright and his oldest son Jeff Hayden. He is survived by his two children Jenny Hayden Cuffman (Mike) of Uniontown and John Hayden (Heather) of Cuyahoga Falls, his grandchildren Alyssa, Brittany, Tyler, Nicholas, Noah, Ian and Kendal. He is also survived by his sister Mary Jo Hayden Rabb (Harold) of N. Canton and their children: Cindy, Jim and Amy Rabb in FL as well as Margaret Ann's children, Julie and Jason Sheldon in TX; former wives, Carole Hayden Rice and Peggy Hayden.
Friends may call from 5-7 PM Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, March 15 2017 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1761 2nd. St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Fr. Jared Orndorff officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of other remembrances memorials may be made to the Ohio Parkinson's Foundation P.O. Box 271 Tallmadge, OH 44278. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
