CUYAHOGA FALLS - Turner L. "Scriv" Scrivener passed away peacefully February 17, 2005 surrounded by his loving family.
Scriv was a selfless, loving, kind, generous and gentle man. He was born January 29, 1916 in Holloway, OH and moved to Akron with his family in 1928 to help open a grocery store called "Scrivener Market" in Goodyear Heights. Scriv graduated from East High School in 1933 and proudly served in the Army Air Corps 56th Fighter Group in World War II. He devoted his life to sales and marketing with Sugardale Foods, E. A. Mabry, Inc and Akron Jeweler's Supply. He won many awards and friends because he cared for others by going above and beyond. He was a 50 year resident of Cuyahoga Falls and was currently a resident and founding member of Sumner on Ridgewood. Scriv was a member of Tadmor Shrine and its Drum and Bugle Corps, Royal Order of Jesters Court #80, Yusef Khan Grotto, 32nd Degree Mason, Valley of Akron. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls and Firestone Post 3383 VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Faye and Lohr and sister, Neva and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Kathryn; daughter and son-in-law, Jacquie and Lance Mabry of Akron and granddaughter, Tiffany Ann Mabry of Cleveland.
Friends may call from 7:00 to 9:00 pm TONIGHT at The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls where a Jester's service will be conducted at 9:13 pm TONIGHT. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday in Northlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Rev. Susan Lausch officiating. A military service will be conducted by VFW Firestone Post 3383. The Family requests memorials be made to Shriner's Childrens Hospital, 1645 West 8th St. Erie, PA 16505.
