January 9, 1961 – April 6, 2025
Ty, 64, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, surrounded by love. A devoted and proud father, he is survived by his daughters, Cayley (Cody) and Cassidy, who were truly the light of his life. Everything Ty did, he did with his girls in mind — they were his greatest joy and his proudest accomplishment.
He is also survived by his brothers Tim, Alan, and Jerry; his sisters Polly and Debbie; and many beloved nieces and nephews who will always remember his sense of humor, big hugs, and how he made everyone feel welcome and loved.
Ty was preceded in death by his father Aaron, mother Anna Belle, and brother Larry — all of whom he missed dearly and now joins in peace.
A proud member of VFW Post 1062, Ty carried a quiet strength, a deep loyalty, and a generous spirit throughout his life. He had a love for dogs that was unmatched and could often be found sharing snacks and naps with his four-legged companions. He also had a passion for the simple joys — playing pool with friends, knocking down pins at the bowling alley, and casting a line on a calm day spent fishing.
Ty was an avid sports fan and could often be found cheering (and sometimes yelling) at the TV during Browns, Guardians, and Cavaliers games — though he also had a longtime soft spot for the Dallas Cowboys. Beyond being a fan, Ty was also a proud coach who enjoyed mentoring young athletes and being part of the action on and off the field. He believed in teamwork, playing fair, and always giving your best — values he lived by every day.
He will be remembered for the way he made others laugh, the wisdom he shared without judgment, and the unconditional love he gave to his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, strength, and genuine kindness. His memory will live on in every story told, every game played, and every heart he touched.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery on Saturday, April 12, at 11 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 12 p.m. at VFW Post 1062. All are welcome to attend and share in honoring Ty’s memory.
He will be missed more than words can express — and loved forever.
