CUYAHOGA FALLS - Virginia Wilford Glenn passed away on Friday, March 28 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. She was the daughter of Nellie Overby Wilford and Freeman Wilford. She lived in the Akron, Ohio area for most of her life until moving to Hoschton, Georgia in 2003. She was predeceased by her husband Richard C. Glenn, her son Randall Wilford Glenn, sister, Frances Colosetti, and brother-in-law, Lanny Glenn. Ginny attended Kent State University and the University of Akron where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity.
Despite a very active career, she was first and foremost a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of several local and national organizations serving in various offices where her advocacy for the progress of women in the work place was always evident. Ginny was an active member of the First Christian Church of Cuyahoga Falls Ohio where she attended for 46 years; the First Christian Church of Winder, Georgia; and an associate member of the Fort Myers Christian Church, Fort Myers, Florida.
She retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after a long and varied career and was considered by many to have been a trailblazer for women being promoted to positions of authority.
Virginia is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gary and Deidre Glenn, two grandsons, Jeffrey Allan (Ryan Nix) and Taylor Randall (Whitney) Glenn; sister, Loretta Tapp; brothers-in-law, Joseph Colosetti and James Tapp and sister-in-law, Phyllis Glenn; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, April 3, in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Service. Rev. Jim Brooks of First Christian Church of Winder, GA officiating. Interment in Rose Hill Burial Park. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 330-928-2147.
