CUYAHOGA FALLS - On July 11, 2008 Virginia Whetsel left this earthly home to enter her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was surrounded by her beloved family who will miss her very much.

Virginia was born in Mount Pleasant, PA on February 11, 1938 to Emory and Irma McClain, both of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Hurst High School (Pennsylvania) in 1956. In 1958 Virginia married Alvin Whetsel and moved to Sunbury, PA., where they lived for 6 years. They moved to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio for the remainder of her life.

Virginia was a seamstress for most of her life. She was employed at Atco Surgical Supplies and retired from Ultra Dry Cleaners, where she did alterations. Virginia was a member of the Steels Corners Community Church, where she enjoyed serving on the social committee.

Virginia left this earthly life with thankfulness to God for the many blessings he bestowed on her throughout her life. Her biggest blessing was her family and her grandchildren, whom she loved and cherished very much. Besides her husband Alvin, Virginia is survived by her children, son, Jeffrey (Carol) of Ravenna and daughters, Kelly (Kirk) Shaver of Munroe Falls, Kimberly (Joe) Steiger of Akron and Jennifer (Pete) Goumas of Richfield; grandchildren, Kyle and Mitchell Whetsel and Derek McIntyre, Acacia, Kara and Jeffrey Shaver, Matthew, Lauren and Nichole Steiger and Kayla and Rachel Goumas; great-granddaughter, Hayden McIntyre. Virginia is also survived by brothers, James (Claudia) McClain, Ed (Diana) McClain, Bill (Carmen) McClain, all of Mt. Pleasant, PA.; Charles McClain of Pittsburgh and Russell Kalp of Stahlstown, PA. Surviving sisters are Lois Shaw and Phyllis (Bob) Seder of Mt. Pleasant, Pa; family friend, Tom Anthony; many nieces and nephews and other extended family, all of which she owed a lot of gratitude and thanks for all the many prayers, care and support throughout her battle with ovarian cancer.

Funeral arrangements have been made with Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. Calling hours are Sunday from 3-8 pm. Funeral services are Monday at 11 am in the funeral home. Interment Northampton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Steels Corners Community Church, 3996 State Rd., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.
