Walter VonGunten, III

(Chris) Walter C. VonGunten, III (Chris) passed away on Jan. 4, 2021 in Cape Coral, Florida after a long illness.

Chris was born Dec. 22, 1957 at Akron City Hosp. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1975. Until he moved to Florida in 2010 he worked in sales, property management and owned his own trucking company. Chris was an avid sports fan. He played football and for many years coached Youth Football for the Black Tigers. Chris was a very sociable person. He was enterprising, ambitious and inspirational to others.

Preceded in death by grandparents, Walter, Sr. and Mary. He is survived by his loving wife, Loretta and loyal pet Ziva; parents, Walter C. VonGunten, Jr. and Wanda Hjelmquist; brothers: Craig (Margaret), Curtis (Laurie), Mark Jones (Sandra), Scott Jones and sister, Vicki VonGunten Tilghman (Eric); sons: Justin (Kayla); Jerett, Walter C, IV (CJ) and daughter, Kelsey; grandchildren, Emelia and Oliver; nieces, Shelby, Bailey and Lauren; nephews, Beau, Devon and Ryan.

A memorial for Chris will take place Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
