CUYAHOGA FALLS - William H. Clifford, 81, died peacefully May 29, 2006. Mr. Clifford was born in Cuyahoga Falls where he had resided his entire life and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in January, 1943. He was owner of Clifford Funeral Home (now Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home) since 1958 and had served area families as a funeral director for over 50 years. He was a Veteran of WW2 having served with the U.S. Army in Germany and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls. Besides his professional organizations, Bill was a member of American Legion Charles Faust Post 281, VFW Ralph Huff Post 1062, Oldsmobile Club of America, Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society, Kiwanis Club and Star Lodge 187 F&AM. Along with his love of Family, Bill's passion was old cars, especially Oldsmobiles and his "Clifford's Mini Antique Auto Museum".
Preceded in death by his son, Billy and brother, Robert E., Bill is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Dottie; daughters and sons-in-law, Marty and Ken Shoemaker of Coventry Twp. and Penny and Gary Slovisky of Brownsville, TX, his grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Tracy Shoemaker, Steve Shoemaker and Sean Slovisky and brother, Jerry (Joan) Hackett of Hampton, NH.
Friends my call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 pm Wednesday at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 Thursday, Rev. Marvin A. Brown officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. A Military Service will be conducted by American Legion Charles Faust Post 281.
