William Eakin

William Eakin

SILVER LAKE -William C. Eakin, 77, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, December 3, 2004, at home with his family. The oldest son of Donald and Nora Eakin, he entered Saint Fidelis Seminary at age fourteen where he studied for three years. At the age of eighteen he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon the completion of his service he attended Grove City College where he studied History and met the love of his life, Nancy Lee MacArthur. An employee of Firestone for thirty-five years, he earned his M.B.A. from the University of Akron and raised seven beautiful daughters.

During his long and full life, he was associated with the Falls Catholic Credit Union, coached high school basketball for C.Y.O. and served as the Vice President and Sec./Treas. for the Marienville Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and cook. All other spare time was spent on the links pursuing his number 1 favorite pastime: golf.

He is preceded in death by is beloved wife, Nancy Lee; parents, Donald and Nora; sister, Patty Louise and brother, Richard. Leaving behind a rich and loving legacy, he is survived by his sister, Rebecca S. Mattocks (Tom); daughters, Patricia M. Walters, Vicki L. Coldwell, Elizabeth J. Lopez (Santiago), Justine S. Vidmar (John), Christine M. Olivo (Anthony), Katherine G. Jendrisak (Mark), and Paullette L.A. Cunningham (Scott); grandchildren, Vanessa, Samantha, Elizabeth, Ian, Alexander, Chelsea, Christopher, Mark, Daniel, Mitchell, Domenico, Hannah, and Antonio and great-granddaughter, Kaidyn.

The Family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Nat Clark, R.N. and Hospice of Summa.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm Tuesday in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:45 am Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. The Family requests in lieu of other remembrances memorials be made to Hospice of Summa P.O. Box 2090 Akron, OH 44398-6153.
