CUYAHOGA FALLS - William Eugene Hurlburt, 68, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018.
Bill was born and raised in Warsaw, NY, the son of William and Mary Hurlburt. He earned a bachelor's degree at SUNY Brockport, where he met his wife of 47 years, Holly. Moving to Ohio in the late 1970's, Bill soon embarked on a 25 year career at Ford Motor Credit Company. Along the way he earned an MBA at Kent State and spent five years in Simpsonville, SC. Bill had an extremely active sweet tooth and consumed a sizable percentage of the annual Raspberry Poptart output. Bill loved participating in his local Euchre club, cars and diecast toys, teaching his grandchildren a large variety of card and board games, and puttering around with any and every thing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ellen and Robert Giblin. He is survived by his wife, Holly; son, Matthew and daughter, Katie, grandchildren, Shakera, Kylie, Will, and Noah, niece, Darlene, and a rotating cast of felines.
A valiant fighter against Parkinson's Disease for over 19 years, Bill exhibited his trademark stubbornness by refusing to cede victory to the disease, being felled instead by an unrelated illness.
Calling hours will be held at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home in Cuyahoga Falls from 5-8pm on Thursday, April 26. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Parkinson's research foundation of your choice. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
