William White

CUYAHOGA FALLS -William F. White, 83, passed away August 23, 2010. Bill White was one of seven children born to Warren E. White and Mary Marguerite Huff White in Coudersport, PA. He attended school there and served in the U. S. Navy as a Seabee. Following his discharge from the service, he began his career in highway construction, working for D. W. Winkelman out of Syracuse, NY and W. G. Lockhart in Akron, OH. He married Audrey Mesler White in 1949 in Pauling, NY.

Bill retired from W. G. Lockhart after many years of paving highways in many states. He was active in The First United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls and is a 50 year member where he served on several committees and helped as a youth counselor. Bill was also a member of the Rotary Club for a short time. Bill loved to work on his camp in Potter County, PA where he enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and cross country skiing.

Preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Violet White, sisters, Jocelyn and Carole, brothers, Thomas and Paul and children, Mary Marguerite White and William "Randy" White, he is survived by his beloved wife, Audrey M. White; children, Terry White (Carol), Lorene "Lori" Chandler (Curt), Rodney White (Sue) and Cheryl Sovacool (David); brothers, Warren D. White, Raymond C. White and Arthur White; sisters, Elizabeth Petrovick, Anna Jordan and Ruth White. Bill has 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday August 25 in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday, August 26 and friends may call for one hour prior to service time. Interment Eulalia Cemetery in Coudersport, PA at 1:00 pm Friday, August 27. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Gifts and Memorials Fund, 245 Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
