William (Bill) James Misencik, aged 79 passed away on February 27, 2025. Born on April 26, 1945 in Lakewood, Ohio to the late Joseph & Viola (Bailey) Misencik, he was a resident of Northampton for most of his life. Bill was a proud U.S. Marine Infantryman, State Highway Patrol Officer (where he earned the nickname “Trooper Bill”), Shaker Heights Police Officer and Ohio Army National Guard helicopter mechanic. What Bill will really be remembered for were his quirks and idiosyncrasies like insisting he came up with the term “brewski” and “tavernating” – the art of bar hopping. He also mastered the “pop-in” where if you were his friend, you can be certain Bill and sometimes the whole Misencik family would “pop-in” unannounced. Bill also loved nature, a good deal, tinkering in the pole barn he built, a good laugh, flying his Cessna prop plane and otherwise embarrassing his family, mostly his daughter. Bill and his wife of 50 years, Margaret (Peg) also enjoyed traveling near and far, one time arriving in Australia with zero lodging booked, determining he would just “figure it out.”

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Barbara Costello, Joanne Datko and Charlene Coughlin. His in-laws Robert & Marilyn Seifert, brother-in-law Raymond Seifert and sisters-in-laws MaryGrace Seifert and Kathy Jones. Bill is survived by his wife Peg, daughter Emily (Joe) Cobbs, sons James and Mark, grandchildren Harper, Finley and Griffin Cobbs, brother Ronald (Ricci) Misencik, in-laws Bob & Bobbie Seifert, Tom & Judy Ciccolini, John Jones, Mark & Carol Seifert, Dennis & Joyce Johnson, John & Gordona Seifert, so, so many nieces and nephews, friends too numerous to count plus a dog named Peeve (yes, as in Pet Peeve).

In 2015 Bill suffered a traumatic brain injury due to a fall on driveway ice and was a true fighter and “Trooper” over the past decade. In lieu of flowers, Bill would have definitely preferred donations be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project – support.woundedwarriorproject.org
