William Zimmerman

William "Bill" Arthur Zimmerman, age 87, of Fairfield, CA, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 following a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Votaw Zimmerman.

Bill was born March 5, 1926 in Delaware, Ohio to the late William Zimmerman and Mary Humes Zimmerman. He retired from First Energy in Akron Ohio after 35 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the light aircraft carrier U.S.S. Cowpens. He was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Akron, Ohio. He was a Master Mason.

Bill is survived by his sons and daughter-in-laws, Lonnie and Kathleen Zimmerman of Oakwood, GA, Jeff and Claudia Zimmerman of Oviedo, FL, and Scott and Linda Zimmerman of Green Valley, CA; six grandchildren, Ryan (wife Brooke) Justin, Michael, Lauren, Kyle and Taylor; and two great grandchildren, Zephyn and William.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Akron, 263 E. Mill St., Akron, OH 44308. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church. A graveside service will immediately follow the church service at Northlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 4441 State Rd., Peninsula, Ohio.
